Performances For Children:
Cascada de Flores also presents a bilingual music and dance program for children in schools, libraries and theaters. As roster artists with both Young Audiences of Northern California and Performances to Grow On in Ventura, they have performed in over 100 Western US schools, reaching over 30,000 students with their educational program.  In addition, Cascada de Flores was featured in World Arts West's arts education program People Like Me, in Herbst Theater (San Francisco), Regent's Theater (Oakland) and Mexican Heritage Plaza (San José).

"The Tree And The Donkey Who Wanted To Sing"- for children of all ages
In this bilingual and participatory program, Cascada de Flores tells their own origin story of the traditional music and dance of Mexico.  Inspired by their travels to Veracruz, Mexico, where old traditions are kept alive by generations of families in the countryside, this story speaks of the diversity of roots in Mexico (especially the indigenous, Spanish and African roots), improvisation and inventiveness within traditions, life and death in nature and, from nature, the making of musical instruments and song.

In this program, children will experience a large variety of musical instruments (
jaranas and guitarra de son from Veracruz, Vihuela, flute and harmonica, marimbol, a bass instrument related to the mbira or African thumb piano, the jaw bone of a donkey, and a tarima, a percussive dance platform); children will be asked to dance and sing with the members of Cascada de Flores.
